Are you gonna see Megalopolis this weekend, so you can get a double dose of what a bad actor Adam Driver truly is? (Although he was great in Marriage STory.)

I hardly think it's fair to evaluate Mr. Driver when the director has carte blanche and is drunk on wine money. Have a heart, Ed!

I gotta give a shout out to Driver in Patterson as well. That characters’ philosophy and dedication to daily routine should be dissected like The Big Lebowski’s dudeism.

Top shelf Jarmusch there.

Bring on those horror movies man! Looking forward to it.

Were the prisoners you discuss doomsdayers before prison or adopted this after being incarcerated?

A lot of them were, yes. Guys who were off-the-grid until they didn't want to be. The feds, predominantly, focus on drug, sex and white collar criminals. You'll get some finance criminals who were trying to live off the margins and skin money from others. But a large chunk of the sex offenders were survivalist mountain -man types. It sucks that the cliche is often proven right- the whole idea of "I don't want the government to trace me", and it turns out the reasons why are pretty straightforward.

A lot of these guys were charged with "computer crimes" (finance AND sex offenders) but they were already talking about leaving prison in a few years and developing new encryption methods, going to different countries, blocking IPs, that sort of thing.

Many of them would leave their relative privacy to interact with their favorite politician and/or elected official. To them, "fulfilling my civic duty" to protest government actions involved death threats and doxxing. They were very passionate about being left alone by the larger government apparatus. Whatever they did with that privacy... I guess it would have to be coincidental, right?

I do love Driver in Paterson, I hope to write that one up here sometime soon.

I would have never thought about being the anti government cabin in the woods guys but after you lay it out it makes sense. It’s just crazy to me that in prison they are talking about how they are going to do it better when they get out.

Yeah man would like to read your take on Paterson. It’s probably my favorite JJ film along with Ghost Dog. Only Lovers Left Alive is up there too.

Still need to see The Dead Don’t Die. I got pretty burnt out with zombie movies post The Walking Dead (not a fan) and haven’t got around to it. Interested to see if that is one of your picks next week.

Most people in prison really feel like they're on prison because they were sloppy and let themselves got caught. Not a lot of moral reevaluation in there.

I saw The Dead Don't Die on FX while in prison so I probably won't be covering it on this site. I was... Bewildered by it? I kinda think it's just Jarmusch making fun of zombie movies and seeing some ironic superficial comparisons with zombies and MAGA, but never at once taking it seriously. Goofy, enjoyable jibberish. I would have no idea how to review it.

You basically are saying what my suspicions on the movie were based off watching the trailer originally and the way you describe it just doesn’t sound very interesting. But post Shaun of the Dead that sub genre has just been played to death/undeath??.

Although One Cut of the Dead is supposed to be a banger.

We were talking favorite vampire movies recently. I completely forgot about Near Dark I think and had to rectify that by mentioning it now.

Love Near Dark!

And One Cut Of The Dead is definitely one I have to see! There will be plenty of space for horror after SCARETOBERFEST, so I hope to catch up to it.
