I remember Benji The Hunted having a really good dog performance.

The cat story is quite moving. I’m pretty cynical, and I don’t like cats myself, but yeah. I do like dogs, and this movie looks interesting.

This is an extremely intense and cinematic movie. I do wish I saw it on a much larger screen.

It’s awesome you call this the best dog movie as from the trailer it seems to be the best. Every time I’ve watched this trailer I go

into teary eyed, can’t swallow, chills mode.

I’m also a huge animal guy and can’t bring myself to watch it. I’ve got dogs and cats.

I made the mistake of watching Amores Perros one time when I worked at a video store in college. Also why I haven’t watched EO or Bresson’s Au Hasard Balthazar. The closet I got to something like this was War Horse. Animal journeys man.

This movie is pretty raw, in that I am stunned they claim no dogs were harmed while making this movie. I think technological advances make this superior to most previous dog films in that the dog is allowed to give a full performance through moments of manufactured duress. I will not lie, though -- this movie made me want to become a dog so I could get away with beating the crap out of dog-hating people. It's ultimately a stand-up-and-cheer movie, just you have to experience a lot of highs and lows first.

I know I need to watch and get to that last scene. I’ve not read any spoilers but I know it’s supposed to be an all timer fist pump moment like you describe.

If there was a reason to beat the crap out of people, hating dogs would be a very solid reason.

I read some trivia that backs up what you say about safety precautions taken on the set during shooting and that with all the dog actors being strays the producers were able to find homes for all of them. Hopefully that really happened. It seems to reason if you are going to make a film about the trials and strife of these animal’s experiences you would also be personally

inclined to protect the dogs’ safety in real life as well. I feel like a director that was callous about dogs wouldn’t have made this movie..hopefully.

And imagine how tough it would be to be an actor and to have to act cruelly towards these good boys and girls!
