I'm not sure I ever saw this movie, but had a few discussions this weekend about the replacement of Jonathan Majors with a white actor... who actually has served jail time. Not to mention a certain actor who is back in the conversation for reasons I won't spoil if you haven't seen Deadpool and Wolverine yet.

It's a difficult conversation to have because you end up equating one crime with the other, and I think that's a gamification of morality.

Now, is there something to the idea that Robert Downey Jr is rarely mentioned as an ex-con, but Majors will be labeled an ex-con forever? Certainly. That has to do with who society deems worthy of the label of criminal and who they don't. That being said, Mr. Majors' actions should not be taken lightly.

It's not great optics, though, I agree.

It also brings us back to the thing I showed you that A24 has distributed in regards to Sing Sing and the use of terms like "inmate," "convict," etc. I'm kind of bummed that I wasn't at the 68th Street AMC when one of the actors (formerly incarcerated at Sing Sing) attended a screening on his own and was talking to all these old white ladies after the movie. I kind of wish I did interviews for that movie, in general.
