I love Andrea Riseborough, and sadly, had two unfortunate interview incidents. The first one she had food poisoning but pushed through and it was a tough interview. The second one I did was for Shadow Dancer, a phoner when I was in the hospital and having a tough time with my cancer treatment, and about 4 minutes into the interview I realized that I did not have the ear-mic for my recorder in my ear but just one of my earbuds so I didn't record the first 4 minutes... but it was a great interview and I was really bummed about that. I wasn't a fan of Mandy :)

Hi Decarceration! First time commenter. My name is Kyle and I just discovered your writing/site through Outlaw Vern’s site a couple days ago. Already read through a good chunk of your reviews over the weekend and your combination of film discussion with your personal experiences makes for such well written, thoughtful, and insightful pieces. Your love for movies and empathy is needed now more than ever. Thank you and you picked up a new subscriber!

Hey, dude.

This kind of comment is just the bee's knees, man. I more than appreciate it. Please, pass it on. At some point, I'm gonna be dealing with WAY less familiar films, and it's gonna be a struggle attracting readers. So, fingers crossed I can fool 'em while I can now!

Keep readin', Kyle. I hope I can keep it fresh for the best readers like yourself.

I will! And I’m all about the obscure ones and I suspect others will be too. Question sir..do you take recommendations or not interested or not quite there yet?

You mentioned 2014 and wondered if that included The Guest and It Follows since Oct is approaching and both have hit 10 yr anniversaries. Would like to hear your take on those one day if you’ve seen them or your ever interested in watching them.

Those are definitely in the pipeline. I have enough movies to stretch this site to three years at least! I have seen It Follows, I'm not sure if it's on the menu for this October yet (I plan entries well in advance, allowing for flexibility).

The Guest is a movie I have weirdly struggled to find on streaming services I use (all legal!), It's something I'd VERY much like to see, but some of these movies just rarely surface beyond being available as rentals. Nonetheless, I am on the lookout every day for what pops up on those services, and The Guest is one of maybe a handful that have been on my radar, but have yet to surface (and sometimes it's whack-a-mole -- other movies I've been eager to see keep appearing, and then vanishing from some services within what seems like weeks!)

I am very open to requests and suggestions. But, regarding this time period (roughly August '14-March '23), there are quite a few movies I'll probably never get around to. And since I use a lot of theme weeks, I'm always trying to figure out where some movies fit (though I have yet to have any problems with this thus far).

Still, I'm always finding new stuff from this period. Did you know, in 2018, there was a legacy sequel to "Manos: The Hands Of Fate"???

Well I hope to read your take on It Follows some time and look forward to seeing what your October horror output will be.

You’re in for a treat with The Guest. It such a great action/horror hybrid and maybe my favorite movie of the last 10 yrs. And it’s got the Halloween ambience throughout which is always a plus. Lot of great Carpenter/Halloween 3 vibes and the soundtrack is a banger if you dig some 80’s inspired synth.

I think there is definitely an underlying theme of PTSD and going home in this movie if someone is looking for it under the surface.

And I did not know there was a sequel to Manos but now I will have to find that!! Speaking of poorly made but amazing/fascinating movies I just watched Miami Connection for the first time recently and it was absolutely fantastic. I could talk about it for days man. If you haven’t seen that one it’s a must see.
